MINUTES LAST MEETING 03-10-2009
To: Leroy Schafer Mayor Fr: Dennis Estes Building Official Re: March Planning Commission Meeting
Members present, Shoultz, Hilton, Kuhnel, Cronk and Colerick.
Meeting opened at 7:00 by Shoultz with chairman Cronk declaring a conflict and did not act as part of the board. Doug Walker of Walker Construction is asking for a variance to the required square footage of 2500sf per family to 1700 SF per family to allow for him to build an 18 plex apartment building on Block 1, Lots 1 & 2 and a reduction to 1200sf per family on Block 2, Lots 1 & 2 and Block 3, Lots 1 & 2 to build 6 plex units. Questions concerning the required parking, trash pickup and utilities were addressed by Estes. Dave Cronk spoke in favor of the units. Neil Newman has some concerns that if this reduction is allowed that now everyone would come in and ask for the same type of reduction. Estes explained that while this could happen the city’s parking regulations will not allow them to overbuild. Estes explained that some work needed done to the plat on north end of the subdivision to allow for an utility easement and that he would contact M.C Schaff to get it clarified.
Motion by Kuhnel to approve the reduction and only allow one (1) 18 plex on Block 1, Lots 1 & 2 and 6 plex units on Block 2, Lots 1 & 2 and Block 3, Lots 1 & 2. Second by Hilton With all in favor motion passed.
Motion to adjourn by Kuhnel Second by Colerick motion passed. 7:50 pm
